Precision Neuroscience announced that it has closed a US$250 million Series D, bringing its company-reported total raised since 2021 to US$430 million. Pershing Square Inc., the Ackman Oxman Institute and an unnamed life-sciences investment fund co-led the round.

Precision says the proceeds will expand its clinical program, advance Layer 7 through further FDA review and build commercialization infrastructure. Precision’s intended thought-controlled assistive BCI remains investigational and unavailable for sale in the United States. FDA decision summary, K242618, Precision website.

Wealthy investors and sovereign-linked funding

Named co-leads include Pershing Square Inc. and the Ackman Oxman Institute. Bill Ackman is Pershing Square’s CEO and an Institute co-founder. Duquesne Family Office, Stanley Druckenmiller’s investment firm, also participated.

Another participant, Mubadala Capital, is an asset-management subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company, the sovereign investor owned by the Government of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. Mubadala Capital also manages money for outside investors. The announcement does not identify how much of its Precision investment represents government capital

Most of the leading BCI companies from Neuralink to Paradromics have received investments from members of the billionaire class and Gulf state-backed investment funds.

This pattern of capital divesment raises major concerns on the future of BCI control and patient’s rights.
